The islands are peaks of a submerged mountainous terrain, with the exception of two volcanic islands, Milos and Santorini (Thera). The climate is generally dry and mild, but with the exception of Naxos the soil is not very fertile: agricultural produce includes wine, fruit, wheat, olive oil, and tobacco. |
The Cyclades are the most popular Greek Islands, for good reason. Well serviced by ferry routes, and close to each other for island-hopping, they are the archetypal Greek Island. Beautiful sandy beaches, great archaeological sites, stunning sunsets, dramatic scenery and warm, friendly Greek hospitality. Sparkling white sugar cube buildings set against the deep turquoise blue of the roofs, sky, and water all around. Truly stunning. And like all Greek Islands, each island in the Cyclades has it's own unique character and style.
